It turns out there’s a name for this one particular make-up look that I just adore – “smoky eye.” News to me – I thought it was just “really hot eye makeup with, you know, lots of stuff on the bottom of the eye as well as the top. Oh, yeah, and puffy-looking. Like she has been up all night, and spent at least some of the time crying. Over me.”
“Smoky eye” is a much catchier name.
Zooey Deschanel’s level of geek-approved hotness just went from 9.75 to OW OW OW I BURNED MY FINGER. She was the girl of every nerd’s dreams in the big-screen version of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, upstaged Will Ferrell in Elf, and now she’s made a record with M. Ward under the name She & Him.
It’s a great record, with a torch-song vibe that reminds me more than a little of Neko Case. Only down-side: No photos in the liner notes. Dammit!
